Rider Testimonials
Looking back to 2012, our first season together with Team In Training, I never would have imagined we would still be riding together in 2024. Each season is memorable and unique in its own way. The camaraderie during the early years created life-long friendships that I will forever hold dear to my heart. So many smiles and laughs and silly pictures that will never let me forget! Your persistence, resilience, and ability to recruit has grown the team strong in numbers. Your passion and positivity are encouraging and contagious. As we raise more and more funds each year for Blood Cancer Research, its incredible to watch the team surpass our goals year over year. We may be from small towns, but we have big hearts and the BIGGEST is our team leader Mel!
My neighbor, Rock Libby, invited me to a Team209 kickoff meeting in 2019, At that time, I was not riding much. I told my neighbor there is no way I could do a trip around Lake Tahoe. He said he felt that same way when he started with the team, but just give it a chance. Following the meeting, I was impressed with the people involved, so I “drank the koolaid” and started training. My first ride in 2019 was a major accomplishment for me, being a 2 time cancer survivor. I really did not know if I would be able to complete the ride. Mel was a major influence for me and I cannot thank him enough for all he does for myself and the team! Mel is an amazing man and team leader and I am blessed to know and bike alongside him.
I cannot thank Mel and Team209 enough. I want to say thank you for teaching the proper way to ride. Thank you Team209 for assembling year over year – with such an amazing community of people with whom to share the experience. Thank you coaches for keeping us safe on the roads. Thanks to Linda and Debbie who provide so much spirit for the team. Thanks to Mel for inspiring us so meaningfully, leading our way as the top team nationally – in the battle against blood cancer. My life has been so enriched since becoming a member of Team209.
